Well, this picture is super old but it is the only recent one I have of my family. I just want you all to get to know them! I am the middle of 5 children and I have been blessed to live with my amazing parents, Aron and Sherri. Emily is 11, the youngest of us kidlets. Then there is Christian (on the far right) he is 18 years old. Next to him is Taylor who will be 22 in November. Austin is the beanstalk on the left and will be 24 next month.
That is just a little bit about my family. There is so much to share! I really wanted to talk about what we learned in class last week. The family is such a sensitive topic in today's world. What defines a family? When is the right time to start a family? How do we keep the family unit strong? How do you even begin to raise a family?
I seriously cannot focus. My brain is just all over the place.
We talked a lot about fertility and how several movements in the world have influenced when woman decide to have children or if they even want to have children. I think it is so sad how there are so many children waiting to come into this world and many women swear that they will not have children or don't know if they will ever be ready to have children. I understand if a woman wants to continue with her career or education but there comes a time to settle down, putting aside your own desires whether they are honorable or selfish, to make a life for someone else. Life is precious.
I am so so so so grateful for my parents who have raised me in such a loving home and have given me a place of refuge, where I always feel safe and accepted. I am glad that they decided to have a family when they did and knew how to raise each one of us children individually. They probably felt completely clueless when they started but they did one heck of a job.
First blog is always the worst. I have no idea what I am doing and I hope my words make sense!
For those of you who are reading this.....there is one thing you should know....(for those of you who do not already know). My family and I are a part of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. We believe that families are essential to God's plan and we can be sealed together for all time and eternity. Death is not the end....we can continue to be together as a family even after this life. That may be hard to understand but to me, it makes sense. I am more than willing to share some of the things that I have learned in church. There is so much to learn, a lot of trust and faith involved, but the words are plain, simple, and wonderful.
Kids are great....Families are great!
