I wish I had more insight to share on this topic. I don't want to share too much because intimacy is a very special and private thing, but I do want to share a few of my feelings.
Intimacy is not all physical. The word intimate is defined as being close, personal, private, and familiar. You can share an intimate moment with someone without being intimate (if that makes sense). Intimacy is the ultimate form of communication. You have to be open and close with the other person. You have to agree on your different forms and definitions of intimacy. Any misunderstandings may cause you to lose trust in that person and can eventually ruin your relationship that should be built on trust and mutual agreement.
Strong intimacy before marriage is not encouraged. You should wait to be intimate with the person that you marry. This intimacy creates a very strong bond and sexual intimacy can bring you closer to your spouse and can help you feel secure. When being intimate you must be tender, generous, and caring towards the other. You may be worried about your own needs, but if you focus on pleasing the other person first, your needs will always be met.
I can't wait to share these intimate and special moments with my spouse. One thing Brother Williams said in class really made an impact on me. I feel like I have always had the hope to marry someone who was a virgin, but Brother Williams said, "It is not as important to marry a virgin as it is to marry someone who is chaste." I think that is so true and I feel like it is better to hope for someone who will always be chaste. I think I will leave it at that.
